Tunnel Composting
The Eggersmann tunnel composting is profitable even with low input quantities, but by increasing the modular tunnel units it can also be used for very large throughput quantities.
It is suitable for aerobic treatment of bio waste and mixed household and kitchen waste as well as for composting of digestates of an upstream fermentation system.
Reduction of the required retention time with simultaneous improvement of the quality As part of the nutrient cycle of heterotrophic microorganisms, which disintegrate organic material in a controlled environment under the influence of atmospheric oxygen (aerobic) and transform it to water-soluble minerals and humus-rich compost in several intermediate steps, the composting process is significantly dependent on the process parameters oxygen, moisture content and temperature.
The Eggersmann intensive rotting tunnel system allows for specific control and adjustment of these process parameters. This enables a high quality of the compost at a reduced retention time and complete hygienization of the waste material.
Highest requirements to emission The composting process takes place in completely closed off rotting tunnels. The purified exhaust air is emitted to the atmosphere after a two-step process of an acidic wash and biofilter. The purification of the exhaust air minimizes greenhouse gas emissions as well as odor emissions of waste treatment.
